He is former President, Panjab University Campus Students Council(PUCSC), consecutively for successive terms in the year 2002-03 and 2003-04. He was elected to the Senate which is the governing body of Panjab University, Chandigarh through electoral process for 2 successive terms spanning 8 years from year 2004 to year 2012.
He was also a former Basketball Player. He represented State of Madhya Pradesh in National Basketball Youth Championship(Year 1995) and represented State of Punjab in National Basketball Championship (Year 1997).He also represented Panjab University, Chandigarh in All India Inter University Basketball Competition consecutively for four years from 1998-2001.
He has studied MA(History) from Panjab University, Chandigarh in the year 2002 and completed L.L.B from Panjab University in the year 2005. He did his Graduation in Arts (BA) from SCD Government College Ludhiana, Punjab in the year 2000.
